Soda Blasting Soda blasting is a process where sodium bicarbonate is applied to a surface using high volume compressed air to remove a product or contaminate from a substrate by abrasion. Soda blasting has a minimal effect on the environment but is it really safe? Soda Blasting works because it is harder than the material being removed from the substrate. Media used in this type of process is measured using the Mohs Hardness Scale (see below.)MRT's process is an environmentally safe water based liquid used as a dip or sprayed on to separate a coating from the substrate. Our process is chemical in nature therefore non-abrasive making our number on the Mohs scale 0.
When Soda Blast is used the media and the product or contaminate is washed away with it. As if the pulverized rust and paint was not bad enough we also have to fear the affect of soda’s alkalinity to surrounding water ways. Soda has a pH of 8-9 about the same as sea water, but in large quantities can create a calcium deficient sea. This calcium deficiency can hinder the proper shell growth of many crustaceans and coral. MRT’s by-product has no affect on the environment because it is neutral (same as water) it is ecologically safe.

Sandblasting or Soda blasting is typically a hazardous
occupation involving high energy costs to run compressors; plus
compressor and equipment maintenance. Clean-up costs from
sandblasting can be substantial. Our rust remover eliminates the
need for compressors, clean-up time, removal of used sand and
potentially hazardous by-products. MRT's Immersion process NO IMPACT!
Removes Rust, Paint, Fillers & Sealers
Advantages of MRT’s process over traditional methods
